One of Bali 's original boutique hotels , Tandjung Sari, which translates as ‘Cape of Flowers', opened in Sanur in 1962 as a four-bungalow extension to the family home of Wija Wawo-Runtu. The scale of the property has purposely been kept small and today the hotel is a peaceful holiday retreat comprising 26 unique bungalows and cottages, steeped in an old world charm unparalleled and unrivalled by other resorts . Set amidst lush gardens on the Sanur beachfront , overlooking the Indian Ocean , the individual bungalows and cottages have evolved from traditional Balinese architecture, construction techniques and materials. The interiors feature designs which rely almost exclusively on Balinese arts and crafts.
