Introduction
Famous for its horse-drawn carriages and with
a rooster as its provincial emblem, Lampang boasts
a long history of human settlements on the Wang
River basin, some of which dating back to more
than 1,000 years. It is rich in archaeological
evidence reflecting ancient civilisations of Hariphunchai,
Lanna and Burma.
Lampang is administratively divided
into the following districts: Muang, Thoen, Mae
Phrik, Ngao, Ko Kha, Wang Nuea, Mae Tha, Chae
Hom, Sop Prap, Seom Ngam, Hang Chat, Mae Mo and
Mueang Pan.
Geographical
The map of Thailand shows that Lampang is long
oval shaped and is situated in the Northern part
of Thailand. The altitude is 268.60 metres above
sea level. The area of the province is 12,533.961
Kilometres or about 7,833,726 acres. The declared
forest area is ,5132,784acres – 65.62% of
total land area.

The population of Lampang is 810,838 – males
402,208 and females 408,630. The district of Lampang
area (Include the municipal area), having the
largest population , the second largest population
is Kho Ka district , and the third Mae Tha.

Culture and Handicarft
There are many villages like Yoe hill tribe, Ban
Mai Pattana, Ban Soue Nug, Ban Luk handicraft,
Karen hill tribe, Ban Mae Mee, Sa Paper village,
Ceramic factories, Mae Tum Art and Craving Community.
